Day 1 – Weds, Feb 10 – INTRO TO EXPERIMENTAL DRAWING


IN-CLASS:
  • Welcome/Introduction to Experimental Drawing
  • Saving your work and how to use the OneDrive

Day 2 – Weds, Feb 17 – OBSERVATIONAL DRAWING TECHNIQUES


IN-CLASS:
  • Warm-up drawings
  • Observational drawing – basic techniques:
    - Contour
    - Negative Space
    - Measuring Forms/Space

  • Watch:
    – measuring a drawing with your pencil
    – Contour drawing
    – Using Negative Space

  • Preparing for next Class - what you will need

DRAWING:
  • Observational Drawing Exercise
    - 1 contour drawing of your object
    - 1 negative space drawing of your object


DUE NEXT CLASS:
  • Observational Drawing 
    - Make an accurate drawing that is part contour (exterior edge and interior details) and part negative space drawing of your object, shading in some of the negative space around the object - measure each part with your pencil for accuracy.
    - Upload photo to Canvas
  • Prepare for next class:
    - Paint mixed media paper with a layer of black acrylic paint
    - Find unconventional drawing tool – comb, cue-tip, fork, stick, chopstick, pine needle, etc.
    - Find a sharp object for scripting/scratching– long nail/screw, knife, screwdriver, etc.
  • Watch:

Day 3 – Weds, Feb 24 – DRAWING WITH AN UNUSUAL IMPLEMENT


IN-CLASS:
  • Warm-up drawings
  • Observational

  • Demo - techniques for drawing with unusual tools

DRAWING:
  • Drawing with an Unusual Implement

  • Go over next week's drawing


DUE NEXT CLASS:
  • Finish unusual implement drawing
