Day 1 - Weds, Feb 2nd  - Course Intro, Start Project 1 


IN-CLASS:


    - 12 inches wide
    - no stuffed animals, bottles, toys, flat objects
    - think about clothes, household objects, tools



DUE BY NEXT CLASS:     - Gloves
    - Other wire (Copper, brass, and look at smaller wire gauges - 18, 20, 24, etc.
    - See wires sculpture supplies from Blick
    - See wire options from Blick Art
    - See- Amazon wire examples
    - Small wire pliers/wire cutters

Day 2 - Weds, Feb 9th - Elements of Sculpture, Work on Project 1


IN-CLASS:
  • What do you think of videos?

    - Use black/dark colored wire (of varying thickness) to build most of the sculpture - this is the most visible and will define the form
    - Use smaller silver wire to attach pieces (remember: silver wire is hard to see)
    - Use color wire to add details, points of visual emphasis (make sure colors can be easily seen)

  • Go over - Elements of Sculpture


  • Work on wire sculpture - start wire sculpture 
  • Meet individually to discuss project/sketches

  • Work on wire sculpture (2-4 hrs outside of class)

Day 3 - Weds, Feb 16 - Principles of Sculpture, Work on Project 1

  • Artist Presentation - Artist that Use Wire in their work
  • Principles of Sculpture Presentation

        - How to Photograph 3D Art

        - Working with clay

        - Or Atlanta Contemporary, MOCAGA
        - Select a sculpture made in the last 70 years
        - take photos and write about it, following the quidelines in the Sculpture Analysis handout︎

    • Schedule time to meet with your group to work on project together
    • Each person makes 3 sketches of ideas for your inflatable sculpture

    Day 9 - Weds, April 6th - Demo, Work on Inflatable Sculpture


    IN-CLASS:

    • Demo 
        - how to design and build inflatable sculptures
        - how to cut and attach plastic sheets - sewing, hot glue

    • Work on Inflatable Sculpture

    • Remember - Museum Sculpture Analysis/Review
        - Visit High Museum (free on Sunday Mar 13th)
        - Or Atlanta Contemporary, MOCAGA
        - Select a sculpture made in the last 70 years
        - take photos and write about it, following the quidelines in the Sculpture Analysis handout︎

    • Visit High Museum Free Second Sunday
    • Buy materials for inflatable sculpture - bring to next class
    • Work on inflatable sculpture as a group (at least 2-4 hrs outside of class)
